Faculty Committee at U. of Iowa Resigns in Governance Dispute

All seven members of a faculty advisory committee in the University of Iowa’s College of Education quit their positions on the panel on Friday, after two top college officials were accused of ordering the destruction of documents that detailed faculty dissatisfaction with the college’s dean. The Des Moines Register reports that the seven committee members announced their resignations in an e-mail, writing that the relationship and lines of communication between the committee and the college’s administration had been “severely compromised.”

The dispute stems from apparent faculty dissatisfaction with Margaret S. Crocco, who took office as the college’s dean last year. Results of a faculty survey showed that many professors were unhappy with Ms. Crocco’s leadership.
